Dear Reader,
I share here what I like and what works for me. If you've been following me, you know that I can change my mind from time to time, and feel free to comment that I'm completely wrong, you may be right. I'm not running a business. I'm not paid and have never received any compensation or facilitation for any review/brand/site here mentioned. In case one day we'll ever meet, I'll be the one offering you a cup of Italian coffee, too.

twin beads again

I'm still on experimenting with super-duo twin beads: now that I got the hang of it, I can say something more to you too. These beads have 2 holes, I use them loading what I need onto the shuttle thread and put them as normally done with beads in picots. Then, for example during a second round, I place the second hole "over" a picot where a join is needed. See this page to revise beaded tatting.
I'm planning to write a tutorial, but you know that I'm a lazy kind of designer, so you should be patient with me!

Local news: last Sunday I went to a lacemakers' meeting, mostly for bobbin lace makers, but I had also the opportunity to see other type of lace, like macramè or netting by women from Bosa (you can read this great post by Jeanine: Sardinian Bosa Filet Lace , so well written, as usual).
I was soooo happy that I met a new tatting friend, too! She was teaching how to needle tatting to another woman and then she learned how to tat clunies! It's fantastic! I'm looking forward to another meeting that will be held in July!

P.S. How do you stay updated with your activity on the blogsphere? I mean, how do you know when someone is replying to a comment you did in someone else blog? I think that I'm confusing Blogger and FB, right?

don't waste my time

"In time" is a movie from 2011, a science fiction with a lot of special effects and action. It's set in a pretend real future, where people stop growing at 25 years old, but with a genetically embedded clock in their arm, programmed with only one year left, starting from their 25th birthday. The world is divided in "time zones" - poor and wealthy people are kept far from each other, as passing from one zone to another costs "life time".

It's a good film, that made me think what if we looked at our life in terms of "time". Money is our form of payment, but it's implicit in its definition that whatever is the cost, that is the material and manufacturing time. That's more evident when we talk about a service - we are paying "time". (Can a pattern be called a service? It costs a lot of time...)

Recalling what one man writes down in the film, giving the protagonist a gift of 100 years, when we sell or give away something handmade, we should always give a note too, saying "don't waste my time".

from alone to online

quad_19
quad_19, I've used dmc cotton size 80 thread
I love your comments, thank you for stopping here, I won't never, never, feel a lonely tatter!
When I started googling "chiacchierino" in 2009, I would never had imagined to find so much online friends, clever, passionate and nice people. I've learned new techniques, something that I couldn't find on magazines, amazing pdf, surprising videos, patterns beyond my imagination. Thank you very much!

tatting break

In order to recovery from the amnesia status, I decided to switch back to sewing. I fell in love with all those butterflies! And I'm proud of my new bag for my bobbin lace's pillow. I started from this tutorial, but then I had to adapt the size, I've also changed something on both sides and I've added a zip. (Do you like roses? I do, and my DH knows it! He's romantic, isn't he?)

Good news is that, while sewing, I could remember quad 19, not exactly but almost that pattern. I'm playing a little with that, I think the second one is better, both in pattern and colours. I don't know if it's original, but I haven't copied it. You'll see more in a week.

I've bought those little glass baubles, they have two holes, could be used as pendant, they've attracted me so much because they're perfect to be covered with tiny tatting thread! So, you'll find here something rounded, in the coming future...

If you want, you can give to my little pink pig Ping a trial: I've uploaded the pattern on flickr.

amnesia

quad_20
That square has been tatted with dmc size 80, in ecrù and yellow, pattern is original. I like that 4 motifs together form a new motif, it seems that this time I could even have the edging included!

I've numbered that as to be the 20th. That's strange, but I'm pretty sure that if I wrote quad20 on my notebook, a previous quad19 must be somewhere. The valentine's square is the 17th, the square I've used in the Easter bunny is the 18th, then I'm pretty sure that I've tatted the 19th, with clunies too!! I think it happened last week. I can remember that I was doing a square but it seemed to cup, so I turned it into a butterfly, and all I know is that my tatting and notes disappeared. Did it fly away?

Oh, I forgot to mention that I've finished one hanky!
(my pattern for the edging is here: https://flic.kr/p/kPdQzS)
