Dear Reader,
I share here what I like and what works for me. If you've been following me, you know that I can change my mind from time to time, and feel free to comment that I'm completely wrong, you may be right. I'm not running a business. I'm not paid and have never received any compensation or facilitation for any review/brand/site here mentioned. In case one day we'll ever meet, I'll be the one offering you a cup of Italian coffee, too.

winter collection

The fashion show is today, attended by celebrities from my mum to my aunt, in the runway the new winter collection of earrings from international tatting designers.

One pattern is from Jane (http://janemactats.blogspot.com/2015/12/pattern-for-dewdrop-earrings.html), the basic pattern is in her blog, then I added sparkles and gold (dmc metallic 282).
The second pattern: I don't know where this simple technique is from, it is one shuttle pattern and it was inspired by the little lovely tatted angel sent me by Lenka (http://frivolenka.blogspot.com). Same thread, same swarovsky. You can see the angel, beautifully tatted by Lenka, here: http://ninettacaruso.blogspot.com/2015/11/8-times-3.html

irregular

An irregular doily could be sign of several things.
- the tatter sporadically forgot to control herself, or to regulate thread tension or to read instructions (or all together)
- she suffers from indeciveness when it comes to colours
- she has been overwhelmed by too much techniques in that narrow area
- she worn her fingers out hiding too much ends with the needle (poor thing!)
- definitely you would say that she needed a second chance...

That grammar book in the picture was printed in 1954, I treasure it because of handnotes written by my father. Men in the picture joke with the word "irregular": man1: "what's irregular(wrong)?" man2: "spark plugs burned." (well, that's my best irregular translation!)

How do you finish ends?
I find this link very instructive: http://www.georgiaseitz.com/classes/ends.html

UPDATE: the link to the pattern "Under an African Sky Doily" by Jane McLellan is here: https://janemactats.blogspot.com/2014/03/doily-pattern.html

never say never

I was wrong, my flowers fit perfectly side by side. The shoehorn lies unused...

Jane made a post while she was tatting this row of flowers: http://janemactats.blogspot.it/2014/03/slow-row.html

In that post there's another close view that shows how she joined flowers together. I think it's working very good, even I didn't block it yet.

Do you see the twisted picot? Well, there's no way you can convice me to untat it.

shoehorn

I'm currently looking for a shoehorn to fit the third motif in the right place.

Probably my tatting is too much tight.

Under an African sky WIP update

Jane's blog is janemactats.blogspot.com, she designed this beautiful doily. Uhm, should I re-tat round 5 in another colour?

design by Jane McLellan

Two rounds of one doily designed by Jane McLellan (janemactats.blogspot.com).

She's a talented designer. Have you ever used a lark's head join? Now I can say that I used it 8 times in my life!

I'm still fighting with a  conical helix...

Jane's doily started!

Threads are green dmc size 80 and multicoloured Perfect Quilter.

One little flower is ready in half an hour!

Two things are to be done with great concentration: closing scmr with similar tension and keeping the wheel direction. I closed SCMRs with a locked shuttle join and followed Jane's photos to have all SCMRs' intersections with second scmr over the previous.

Thank you very much for all your nice comments.
