Dear Reader,
I share here what I like and what works for me. If you've been following me, you know that I can change my mind from time to time, and feel free to comment that I'm completely wrong, you may be right. I'm not running a business. I'm not paid and have never received any compensation or facilitation for any review/brand/site here mentioned. In case one day we'll ever meet, I'll be the one offering you a cup of Italian coffee, too.

aunt's action plan

If you visit her in August, she's giving finishing touches to her handmade Xmas' gifts! Yes, because she starts early, -"because well done handmade crafts demand your time - she says - and then you sure want to have a rest when the season is coming, aren't you, and of course you love visiting friends in December, ..."-  I've always tried to follow the aunt's plan, without success. During this year I've started few different things, incomplete, and for some of them I also changed my mind. Anyway, that's only to warn myself  I'd better start something for Xmas.
glass balls
To cover that glass ball, I've used Finca light gold (Hilo Metalizado, 1000mts, Presencia Hilaturas), double strand, 35% Polyester and 65% Viscose, but I doubled the thread to make it thicker. Tatting is in 3 parts, joined with a bare thread with the help of a needle.

Do you remember that I'm learning Bosa's lace? The ladies from Bosa, maestre of their Sardinian filèt called  “SU LÀURU 'OSINCU”, are coming again by a month, and I can't wait! I hurried finishing the net from last year and that's the frame completed:
And this is only one of them, after cutting from the net:
I'm still learning, I beg you don't look too close!

So, that's why I've less tatting this week! By the end of this week (I hope) I'll show you my progress on the green&purple doily with CR and wide picots.... this one: http://ninettacaruso.blogspot.com/2016/09/go-on.html .... Mmmm, I need a name! Would you rather help me or suggest me a names generator link?

so far, so good!

invisiballs, a photo by ninettacaruso on Flickr
I've 5 glass balls more, but I must stop them now. Yes, I know that tree is quite undressed, I should tat the others, next days.

Now I must close the tattingram. It's a Christmas tattingram, anyway! That is the third piece (the medium size triangle) :
The center part is the same as the square, same stitches count.

I've another shot to share. Usually I put together pictures using Serif DrawPlus, but this week I found a clever app for the phone ("smart-phone" it is indeed!) that's called Photo collage, so here you are, a collage of pics, a one-page tutorial for little pincushions I made in November. The starting piece of fabric is a square, then I folded it in a Origami Square Base. Sew, reverse, put buttons, et voilà!

variations

Pattern for the invisiball today is 3 repetitions of "quad_14".

That messy tatting up there, it is another failed pattern, it seemed good while tatting, but then it resulted loose. It was the pattern used for quad_07.

The upper star may be the little motif in the next picture, that is a variation of the center part of this doily

rehabilitation

That "dress" was discarded on 5th Dec. But rescued and adapted now.

Pattern is 2 repetitions of "quad_16".

dress rehearsal

...quite good! I need many other invisiballs and the upper star.

I took a break with a delicious "Heart of Misha" designed by Fox (www.tat-ology.blogspot.com, then go to her "My patterns" page ):

The multicoloured thread is really beautiful, one of my favourites right now. I don't know what it is, as it comes directly from the Colour's Fairy world, received in the mail this week! Thank you very much Fox!

I tried the fluffy Josephine knot, as described by Carollyn in her blog (www.tennbrown.blogspot.com). She has a video on YouTube, too. It's not easy keeping the larger shape with 14 half knots, I need more exercise!

For the invisiball in the picture, I followed the pattern used for "quad 19". But now, without cluny leaves, it lost originality and it rather looks like the "magic square" described by muskaan in her blog! (www.tipsaroundthehome.blogspot.com)

a mystery

A mystery in the mystery doily? It's no more a mystery, the designer is Dr. CeSea Lawson. I'm quite sure that in September I read Georgia Seitz's article here: www.bellaonline.com/articles/art184204.asp

I saved the link and there were at least 3 pages with the pattern for a total of 10 rounds, a bigger doily than what we used to know.

But - as I trust too much on technology - I haven't downloaded the pattern, and now it disappeared!

The little glass ball in the picture has 3 repetitions of the first row, with rings of 3-3-3-3 ds.

olive shape

Yesterday evening was the "cut and @#!" time for the invisiballs. I was not in top shape, or I was too much distracted by the film on tv, or both.

In the afternoon I tried  the shape of the tree with the plastic coated wire and it was a failure too. I changed my mind and have another idea for the tree. I think to use a plastic transparent sheet, shaped in a cone. It must be at least 30centimeters high. What do you think?

how many invisiballs?

How many invisiballs should I have?

Carollyn implicitly suggested twelve! ... That's as far as I understood, reading about "partridge in a pear tree" on wordreference's forum. I always learn from you! Not only tatting here! Thank you!

I found a plastic coated wire for gardening that may be used to make a tiny tree. Don't know if I can make something nice, I hope so...

Pattern is only 3 repetitions from "quad_23".

...and another

Pattern is that one used for "quad16", but only 3 repetitions instead of 4.

Numbers in the picture indicate centimeters.

another invisiball

I've followed the pattern used for quad_03 (https://www.flickr.com/photos/ninettacaruso/9662780924/in/set-72157625675658822), it's a little bigger than the ball, but those balls are all slightly different in size, so I chose that one that seemed the bigger one. No, not good to me, so I'm not going to use this pattern again.

Thread is DMC 282, metallic, gold. Beads are miyuki.

It seems that this one is only the second of a series, because I've already started the third!

I'm using a free version of "Add Watermark" that reduces each photo to 800 px. I hope that's not a problem with your monitor and that all photos are pretty good. It's quick and easy, I like it a lot!

invisi-balls

I was playing with one of my patterns ( https://www.flickr.com/photos/ninettacaruso/6390980273/in/set-72157625675658822 ), the idea is to modify the pattern to change the snowflake shape and make another set of 7 motifs for a tattingram.
I've thought about a Xmas theme, and I've just solved also the tricky part that is the parallelogram.

But I wanted to add something gold, and that was my fault: I remembered the small glass balls that I bought  this summer, perfect for Xmas tiny balls, quite invisible in a Xmas tree... All my tatting is quite invisible, with size 80 threads, should I better start a bedspread?

More invisiballs will come...
